Newport Aquarium : I spent a day at the aquarium at Newport Kentucky. This aquarium features a huge shark tank that has many windows into the tank and even has a glass tunnel that goes through one part of the tank. There are also many other tanks with other types of fish and aquatic life. I enjoyed the otter display, the penquin display and the walk-in aviary. It is well worth a visit. Plan on spending at least a half day at this aquarium.

Eagle Watch : The Eagle Watch was at Kentucky Lake the weekend of Jan 20-22. We stayed at the Kentucky Lake Dam Village Resort. The Yacht was the CQPrincess from Louisville. On Saturday, the weather was perfect with bright sunshine and clear skies, but not so many eagles. I only saw 6 eagles on Saturday, but photo conditions were excellent. On Sunday, Jan 21, the weather was gloomier with gray skies and periods of light rain. However, there were LOTS of eagles, as I saw about 25. Photo conditions were more difficult on Sunday due to the low light levels, gray skies, and rain. In all, it was a wonderful weekend. The yacht was simply wonderful. I used a Canon 100-400 lens and it was barely adequate. The photos posted here have been cropped from 8 megapixels to about 1 megapixel to get a decent image size. If money permitted, it would be better to have a more powerful lens and more megapixels from which to crop. The lust for more camera equipment never ends!
